Whenever faced with a large capital expenditure household item/improvement project we employ three basic rules, viz. research options/models available, then scrutinise market for dependable reliable service providers (including Hello Peter for any adverse publicity) where same are required for the project, once satisfied draw up a short list of three contractors and invite recommendations and quotations.
This time round it was a decision to replace our ceramic floor tiles with wood-like flooring. Was shocked to find how many flooring companies had a track record matching that of second hand motor vehicle dealers!
Had two quotations (and recommendations that required removal of ceramic tile skirting and even ‘filling in grout” to level floor tiles) when I walked into LM Wooden Floor and Décor (Ballito) for a third quotation. Walked straight to the laminate flooring section seeking out possible shades that would suit, when Lé Roi Smit stepped over and introduced himself and listened with interest to what I required.
Twenty minutes later I walked out of the store looking forward to receiving a quotation not for laminate but vinyl flooring having been convinced by Lé Roi via a detailed insight into not only the difference between the two but more importantly why his Spanish manufactured vinyl was the way to go.
A week later we were marveling (and still do every day) our beautifully laid vinyl wooden flooring which required nothing to be done to our existing floor tiles and skirting. The work was carried out by a women-owned flooring installation company who together with Lé Roi ensured that the work was not only completed within the promised timeframe, but more importantly, with no come back at all.
